Chief Maxwell comes to Central Fire with a unique and varied fire service background. He began his career almost 30 years ago as a volunteer with the Zayante Fire District. Since then he has been employed with the Pacifica Fire Department, Milpitas Fire Department and the Moraga-Orinda Fire District. During his employment with Milipitas, he was also appointed as chief of the volunteer fire district in Zayante.

Chief Maxwell has an A.S. degree in Fire Protection Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration. He and his family reside in Felton.

During his career, Chief Maxwell was promoted to the position of battalion chief. He has worked in the position of training officer, hazardous materials specialist and technical rescue specialist. As a rescue specialist he was deployed as part of several urban search and rescue teams to the sites of the World Trade Center bombing, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Ike.
